YNDC Community Safety Program Installs Over 200 Doorbell Cameras in 2026

Monday, October 12, 2026

To date in 2026, YNDC team members have installed 213 subscription-free doorbell cameras throughout the south and east sides of the City of Youngstown. Team members canvassed homes within areas that are known crime hotspots and installed doorbells for households that wanted to participate. YNDC has also installed new or improved security lighting on businesses along Midlothian Boulevard, Market Street, and McCartney Road.

The Community Safety Program was created based on resident feedback to reduce crime, increase safety, and develop positive relationships with the Youngstown Police Department. The program works with residents, neighborhood groups, and the police to build infrastructure among neighbors to prevent crime by fostering cooperation and mutual trust between residents, corridor business owners, and the police. The program establishes partnerships with households and businesses in Youngstown to install doorbell cameras and installs new LED lighting at businesses along corridors in hotspot areas.
